  • Orange City Rugby Club has a proud rugby history, going back to 1973 when it was established by Tony Hoy, Nick Thompson, Rory McDowell, and the Blunt Brothers.

Our inaugural First XV took to the field during the 1974 season. Those first few seasons were tough, but the camaraderie that the foundation players built over those early years set the club in good stead for the future.

Over our 50 year history we have won a total of 12 first grade premierships in Central West District Rugby Union competition. Our reserve grades and junior grades have also enjoyed many successes over the years.

Our Junior grades joined the ranks in 1985, with many of those players now coming full circle and playing a huge part in coaching our current junior teams.

Our Women’s team is in its infancy, and growing every year as more ladies take the field to enjoy the game of rugby, and being part of the Orange City Rugby Club.

One of our foundation attributes is our commitment and hard work, both on and off the field, with the spirit of mateship and family at the forefront of all that we do.

  • The Club prides itself on welcoming everyone and was built on coming together as a club, not just to play the game we all love, but as a community as well.
We do this by having team meals after training, our yearly social events like ladies day and the winter ball.

We also value the safety of our players, which is why we have St Johns first aid on site at all home games, volunteers undergo safety and first aid training for away games. Our Senior sides have access to our Club Physio and we actively look for ways to take care of our players.

  • Our Club has a team for everyone, our juniors covers ages from 5 to 17 years old and for the adults we have teams for those who have a passion and skill for the game and those wanting to learn what its all about and have some fun and stay fit with mates.

  • If you ever heard a roar

    Like you never heard before

You’ll know the lions are on the field again.

Be it lineout, ruck or maul

We’re sure to win the ball

And taste the taste of victory once again

We’re the legends Orange n’ Green

The greatest rugby club you’ve seen

    We are the rucking lions

    A legend of our time

The Orange City Rugby Club are we

    We’ve travelled many lands

    From New Zealand to Japan

But maybe you should all remember this

    We’re rowdy and we’re strong

And we love to sing a song

But we’re really only in it for our mates
